'A drink precedes a story'
GreenRiver is a Michelin-starred restaurant and bar that brings exceptional cocktails, seasonal American fare, and a beautiful outdoor terrace to Chicago’s Streeterville neighborhood. Cocktails draw inspiration from the Irish Americans who helped transform Chicago into the mighty metropolis it is today. Seasonal dishes range from snacks to plates, offering guests the option to sample a few bites at the bar or enjoy a full dinner. GreenRiver is a collaboration between the Best Bar in the World team of Jack McGarry and Sean Muldoon (The Dead Rabbit) and Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group.
Since opening in September 2015, GreenRiver has received one Michelin star, three stars from the Chicago Tribune, four stars from Crain’s Chicago Business, and was named one of Playboy magazine’s “Best New Bars of 2016.”
A Chicago native, Aaron is responsible for developing GreenRiver's menu with new twists on simple, comforting American dishes, as well as overseeing the kitchen team. Aaron's culinary philosophy stems from his commitment to working with local purveyors, as reflected throughout GreenRiver's menu. Prior to joining the GreenRiver team, Aaron was part of the opening team at Celeste, worked at MK and was chef de cuisine at Acadia where he helped the restaurant earn a Michelin star. A precocious cook since childhood, Aaron began experimenting in the kitchen at age 10, had perfected cream puffs and eclairs by 13 and was set on a culinary trajectory at 14 after his mother gave him a copy of The French Laundry Cookbook.
